InnoTech kicks-Off AI/ML Course for 60 Bhutanese Participants
Following the InnoTech-Omdena partnership, InnoTech is kicking off the first phase of the collaboration with the Omdena Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning online course at Thimphu TechPark today. 60 Bhutanese candidates have been enrolled for the course wherein participants will be learning concepts of AI/ML over the course of three weeks. This pilot InnoTech-Omdena event will serve as a showcase for local institutions and the general public who are interested in AI/ML. The completion of the course will be followed by a global 4-week hackathon launched by Innotech and Omdena. DHI InnoTech is currently working on identifying key themes and issues that can be resolved using innovative AI/ML applications for the global hackathon. Omdena will work with 50+ AI engineers over an additional 8-week period to develop the idea or the proof of concept shortlisted from the hackathon to be developed into a fully deployable algorithm.
InnoTech Participates to Deliver Girl STEM Camp 2021
Members from the InnoTech team at DHI participated at the Girl STEM Camp organized by the Ministry of Eduction (MoE) in collaboration with Department of Information Technology & Telecom (DITT) and We-POWER of Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC). Built around the theme Nothing in The World a Girl Can’t Do, the camp saw participation of 50 girls from 20 Dzongkhags. The program was spread across three days in Paro, where the facilitators aimed to inspire girls to embrace subjects of science and enhance their participation in STEM courses and careers. The InnoTech team members participated as facilitators for Arduino programming and 3D Designing & Printing. The camp was funded by UNESCO Participation Programme 2020-2021 and Asian Development Bank.
dhiTECHHACk 2021: The Group Innovation Challenge
Following the success of the DHI TechHack challenge last year, DHI InnoTech is back with the Group Innovation Challenge geared towards the DHI Ecosystem. This year, InnoTech is engaging the employees within DHI and its Group of Companies to collaborate, develop, and solve the various issues faced in their organizations. The TechHack will be held on Friday, October 22 at the Le Meridien, Thimphu. The challenge will act as the first step towards building the DHI Corporate Innovation Platform, conceived with the aim of building capacities for innovation at the company level, and for the larger DHI ecosystem.
Innotech Hosts Innovation & Technology Conference
DHI InnoTech hosted its first Innovation & Technology Conference on October 12, 2021. The conference was centered around the theme of Leadership and brought together the Chief Executive Officers and Innovation Task Force Members from the DHI Group of Companies. The various sessions emphasized the role of leaders in driving and strategizing technology and innovation pathways. The conference also highlighted InnoTech-led innovation initiatives and called upon the leaders to collaborate for a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

DITT in Collaboration with DHI Launches On-the-Job Training for Fresh Graduates
The first batch of graduates from the Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT) will be training at various departments under Department of Information Technology & Telecom (DITT) and Druk Holding and Investments (DHI). The on-the-job training program is set to commence on September 1st, 2021. The training will kick off with a month-long orientation program to ensure a smooth transition into the corporate environment for the students. The orientation program will include presentations and short trainings conducted by the staffs working at various organizations in Bhutan, as well as experts from outside the country. All sessions will be broadcasted live on DHI InnoTech’s official Facebook account.

InnoTech Presents Strategy Paper on Emerging Technologies
InnoTech is excited to present our latest Strategy Paper on Emerging Technologies. Emerging technologies and new industries present opportunities for Bhutan to address socio-economic challenges and build human capacity. The paper, as a potential starting point, contextualizes the technologies to Bhutan and maps out a priority (impact vs effort) matrix for the adoption of the 22 identified technologies. Training on Arduino to Promote STEM Education in Bhutan
DHI InnoTech is conducting a two-day training on Arduino for 9 high school teachers from Thimphu to promote STEM education in the country. Arduino is an open-source electronic prototyping platform enabling users to create interactive electronic objects. Arduino boards are designed to make electronics more accessible to artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. The hands-on session will be held at the DRIVE center on 1st and 2nd July, 2021.
InnoTech Launches Familiarization Program for Fab Lab Managers & Engineers
DHI InnoTech launched a familiarization program for Fab Lab managers and engineers across the country today. The training modules include introduction to Fab Labs and Super Fab Lab in Bhutan, as well as Design Software, Electronics Design and Production, Design Thinking in Prototyping, Application and Software Programming, etc. The five-week long training will be conducted online and will conclude with a session on management and maintenance of Fab Lab machines. Currently, all Fab Labs in the country are managed by RSSTEM.
