We are Developing Technology with Values

DHI InnoTech plays a pivotal role in Bhutan's research and development landscape, operating on a philosophy of turning ideas to impact through applied and fundamental collaborative research that gives rise to technology ventures, start-ups, national intellectual property, and an enabling innovation ecosystem.

Vision

Developing technology with values for a resilient, innovative, and knowledge-based Bhutan.

Mission

We aim to champion impactful technologies; strengthen national innovation capacity, and strategize policy and implementation roadmaps to steward an open innovation ecosystem that addresses national challenges.

How We Work

The Department brings together a multidisciplinary team of strategists, researchers, designers and builders, working together across three divisions.

DRIVE

Developing Technology

The DRIVE (DHI Research and Innovation Venture Excellence) Center, referred to as the "Do-Tank", drives applied research and leverages technology to build transformative solutions and ventures.

STP

Creating Capacity

The STP (Strategic Technology Planning) Division, referred to as the "Think-Tank", works to create capacity and contextualize technology for local adoption while fostering collaboration and building the national innovation ecosystem.

JNW Super Fab Lab

Supporting Innovation

The JNWSFL (Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck Super Fab Lab) powers this vision by providing the open platform that builds research capacity, links global and local talent, and prioritizes STEM education. It serves as a dynamic hub to learn, create and collaborate.

Our Core Design Philosophy

01

Work in public.

Live project pages with status tags. Source code, datasets, and field readouts where the license allows. The work is the brochure.

02

Pick problems Bhutan needs next.

Water non-revenue losses, winter generation, language coverage, heritage at risk. The portfolio is selected against the country's ten-year plan, not against research vanity.

03

Build with operators.

Every pilot is co-owned by the municipality, ministry, or utility that will run it after we hand it over. We embed engineers; we don't drop reports.

04

Stay measurable.

Pilots ship with a metric and a public readout. Projects that miss are shelved on the page, not buried.

The Big Picture

A national platform linking policy, research, and capital for mission-driven innovation at scale.

If your problem is one Bhutan needs solved, bring it.

Three lanes are open right now: pitch a project, apply for an internship, or write us directly. Every message routes to a named engineer, not a queue.
